Spiritual Sunday!!!

Matthew 28:1-8

1 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

Throw back Thursday! - Real Love

We are lovers true and through
And though we made it through the storm
I really want you to realize
I really want to put you on
I've been searching for someone
To satisfy my every need
Won't you be my inspiration
Be the real love that I need

TV Show Tuesday!! - Cosby Show

The Cosby Show is an American television situation comedy starring Bill Cosby, which aired for eight seasons on NBC from September 20, 1984 until April 30, 1992. The show focuses on the Huxtable family, an affluent African-American family living in Brook, New York. This is one of my all time favorite television shows. It plays the role of a real life American family. Rudy (played by Keshia Knight Pulliam) and Olivia (Raven Symone) were my favorite characters.

Spiritual Sunday!!!

 Luke 9:27-36

27But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.

28And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.

29And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.

30And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:

31Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.

32But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.

33And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said.

34While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.

35And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

36And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.

-In the eighth grade, I had to memorize this Bible verse. Since then, this has been my personal favorite Bible verse. J. Alana

Essence Music Festival

The Essence Music Festival is such a great experience. I went to my first EMF in 2010. My family and I have made this one of our summer trips. The festival is usually July 1-3. Meet and greet with celebs, live interviews, seminars, game shows and so much more. Everything takes place in the convection center of downtown New Orleans, LA, and the concerts are at the Super Dome. The best part is, that it's all free (except the main concert on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night). In 2010, we attended the Saturday night concert which starred: Keri Hilson, LL Cool J, Gladysis Knight, and Alicia Keys! This year we went to the Sunday night show which starred: KEM, Trey Songz, New Edition (6 deep), and Mary J. Blige! I'm so excited for the 2012 EMF!

Here are some of the many pictures I have taken while at the Essence Music Festival:

Spiritual Sunday!!

So this is a new themed day called "Spiritual Sunday" where we post a Bible Verse every Sunday! YAY!!!

Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests  be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Where Have I Seen These Painting?

Take a moment to ask yourself this one question, Where have I seen these painting? There have been numerous of times where I have been at a relative or friend's house and seen one of theses paintings. I have five of these paintings in my own home. Henry L. Battle painted the two below and many more. How is it that so many people have these paintings? Leave a comment and tell me where you have seen any of these paintings.

Remembering Steve Jobs...

So, as you all may know co-founder of Apple Inc. passed away October 5, 2011. He died of pancreatic cancer. This is just a blog I am making in remembrance of him and his accomplishments. In my eyes Mr. Jobs was way before time, he was a talented and gifted man...a true gift from the Lord above. Steve Jobs also helped in a lot of animated movies such as Toy Story adn other Pixar movies. He has invented many items we teens and adults use everyday like: iPods, iPhones, and Mac products. His genius can never be copied or replaced.  He will truly be remembered for the wonderful computer engineer, innovator, and inventionist he was. Without Mr. Jobs android-line products probably would not have existsted for another 2 years or more. He leaves behind a multi-billion dollar business and his four kids.
!THANK-YOU STEVE JOBS!

...those not so great days...

Okay, so have you ever had one of those days where everything just didn't seem to go right? One of those days where it seems that everybody is doing stuff to make you upset? I know the feeling, because I have at least one of those days a week. Yea I know, how can somebody be upset THAT much...trust me, it's possible. So in this post I will be telling about simple ways to bring you back to calmness. ...it works for me.

Ways to Calm Down
1. I know its cliche but...count to 10
2. Gently and quietly, breathe through your nose and back out through your mouth for as long as you're angry or disturbed
3. Read a book
4. Take a warm bath
5. Sip tea, coffee, or warm milk ...whatever warm drink that suits you best
6. Relax and think of happy times
7. If you're REALLY angry, take a cool bath and think about the positive people in your life
8. Watch a great movie ...preferably a comedy
9. Pray to God
10. Think about something funny
11.Shake your shoulders to relieve tension
12. Talk to friends
13. Lay down in a safe place, and just chill
14. Write down what the problem is and ways to resolve it OR you can right an angry letter and throw it away after you finish venting
15. Take time to PRIVATELY relax, pray, and meditate
16. Squeeze a stress ball, sponge, or any other pliable object for at least 50 times
17. This is the one I need to work on: REALIZING THAT YOU CANNOT CONTROL WHAT WILL HAPPEN THAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!
18. Make a goal to live more and stress less
19. Listen to happy music
20. RELAX

Movie Mondays and Throwback Thursdays

Okay so if you haven't noticed already, Jaleesa and I have started doing Movie Mondays and Throwback Thursdays. We came up with the idea {like we always do} talking on the phone. Movie Mondays is basically where every Monday we name our favorite movie...no one movie will be named twice. Throwback Thursdays is basically where every Thursday we name our favorite throwback song, it can be ANY song...even songs that were recorded before we were born. So you can join in on the fun. Just leave a comment or inbox us what your favorite movies and throwback songs are. I'm pretty sure we will be having more themed days in the future so stay posted! BTW, if you have any ideas of what a theme of a certain day should be inbox or comment and if it's good we'll use it and give you a shout-out on the first post!
Thanks for Reading...

Scream Tour 2011 Review

The tour stars: Diggy Simmons, Mindless Behavior, Jacob Lattimore, OMG Girlz, Hamilton Park, and the New Boyz (they didn't perform).
My Ticket :)

On September 30, 2011, Tristan, myself, and two of our friends attended the Scream Tour concert. The tour started in our hometown Augusta, GA, at the Bell Auditorium. This was the first time in awhile a "teen concert" came to the Aug. So, we were really excited to go.

My Diggy badge
So I (Tristan) will be talking about the performances of the artists. The first performer was an Augusta native Tika-Boo she did pretty good, then the O.M.G. Girlz hit the stage and did their thing ...T.I. made an appearance with them and it was off the chain! Hamilton Park got their grown and sexy on and had all the ladies going wild...lolx. Then Jacob Lattimore performed and he was great. He is a really good dancer and singer. He brought out an artist named King Issa (he was too fine) and they did their thing. Diggy hit the stage next and went hard he was my favorite performer. He was really interactive with the crowd. And, last but not least Mindless Behavior blew the girls away with their performance, even though they're 13-14 they were on their grown man status. All in all the concert was off the hook and if I could I would attend it again. I believe the next concert we will go to will be a Drake concert...it will probably be in Atlanta.
                     THANKS FOR READING!!!

Movie Monday!!!

The poster depicts of a Transformer named Optimus Prime, standing with his blade on his left arm, and his blaster on his right arm, with a young couple standing below the Transformer, and standing in front of a crashlanded Decepticon fighter. The characters appear to be in the war-torn city of Chicago, with Decepticon battleships surrounding and guarding the city. The film title and credits are on the bottom of the poster.
J. Alana's movie choice

Hands down, Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon was the best movie of the 2011 summer. The movie stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Tyrese Gibson, Josh Duhamel and Josh Turturro. It was released to theaters on June 29 at 12:05 AM (I went to the 12:15 AM showing). Besides being a huge Tranformers fan (book bag, folders, notebooks, ect) the movie was action packed, great story line, and just an AWESOME movie!!! It was released to DVD on September 30.
